Stewardship Plan & Policies for Lead Batteries

To help guide the stewardship of lead batteries, the CBA has developed a national stewardship plan that is supported by a variety of policies that will be applied on a Province-by-Province basis.

CBA Policy – Littering

The purpose of the policy is to review the principles and responsibilities related to the cost to clean-up of lead batteries that were abandoned, littered, or hoarded by consumers, customer and residents.

CBA Policy – Producer Pays the Cost

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that the circular economy for lead batteries is maintained so that the service providers continue to collect and process lead batteries across all communities in Canada and that consumers have free access to lead battery collection locations.

CBA Policy – Remote Communities

The purpose of this policy is to outline the policies and procedures necessary to recovery lead batteries that can become stranded in remote communities across in Canada.

CBA Policy – Accessibility

The purpose of this policy is to define the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements to provide for reasonable and free consumer access to collection facilities or collection services for communities across Canada.

CBA Policy – Financial Reporting

The purpose of this policy is to provide details of the Canadian Battery Association’s Federal, Provincial, and organizational financial reporting requirements as a not-for-profit organization and ensure financial transparency to its members and the public.
